For this week's school post, I was instructed to highlight a new, innovative fashion show format. Although I'm late commenting on the hype of the latest Mugler (formally Thierry Mugler) menswear collection as it has already swept into popularity through the blogosphere, I can't think of a more alarming addition to fashion week than sending a zombie down the runway.
Nicola Formichetti, Creative Director of Mugler and famously the genius stylist to Lady Gaga, released his new fall men's collection title Anatomy of Change, featuring Rick "Rico" Genest as the design house's muse. Rico, now infamous for his shocking full-body tattoos including a skeletal structure and exposed brain brought next level dark drama, controversy, beauty, and seduction to the world renowned label. See the video below for Rico's fashion week debut:
TOMS Shoes is a socially responsible company founded in 2006 by entrepreneur, Blake Mycoskie. TOMS is based off the One for One movement, where every pair of shoes purchased, another is donated to a child in need. Shoes, a necessity we often take for granted, are the most basic form of prevention for dangerous debilitating and disfiguring soil-transmitted foot diseases, including Podoconiosis. Furthermore, shoes provide safety against infection, a secure method of transportation, and a feeling of self-worth.
TOMORROW - April 5, 2011 - marks TOMS 'One Day Without Shoes' - a pledge to go one day without shoes to experience the hardships people all over the world face without this basic necessity. The purpose of the initiative is to educate consumers, family, and friends about the importance of shoes, and how YOU can help those in need.
Tomorrow I plan to go without (but will have my TOMS Dan Eldon Printed Classics in tow)! Will you go without?
