PARK PINK

A simple outfit today. I just realized I wear these heels in the majority of my posts - they're my go-to perfect platform pumps that boost
me from 5'7" to 5'11" and give me the extra leg I wasn't gifted with!
Wearing Zara skirt and blouse, Urban Outfitters tights, Aldo heels. Remeber to stop by Clay's blog, 16 MM CUT! Happy Saturday!

ZARA PRADA

Fashion is always propelling at least one season ahead, while in actuality we're just beginning to prime our wardrobes for spring 2011!
Fall shows aside, I'm going back to one of my fave S/S 11 collections - Prada!
I loved the animated feeling of this collection; the bold primary colors, thick auto stripes, and deliberately minimal silhouettes made for a completely electric collection. Here is my own interpretation, from Prada to Zara:
Zara blouse, belt, and skirt ● H&M tights ● Aldo heels
Happy Friday! Everyone please check out and follow my boyfriend/blog photographer's new art and film blog, 16 MM CUT. Tell me what you think! xo Nia

School Post #5: Color Trends

While researching Spring color trends, I was perplexed by this image (right) I found on WGSN of a detail from Yan Shilin's
'Empty Sofa'; the fashion forecasting site described the image's color focus as "bruised pastels on a neutral base highlighted
with toxic brights". I instantly fell in love with this palette - what a beautifully haunting interpretation of such a delicate color story.
As I continued following this color trend, I discovered J.Crew's Spring 2011 lookbook completely embodied these hues with blush tones,
muted corals, honeysuckle, and dusty yellows. These shades were also evident on many Spring 2011 runways including Cacharel, Carven,
Antonio Berardi, and Dennis Basso. It won't be long before these tones trickle from the runways to the sidewalks!

THE ARMORY SHOW

Today I went with some friends to The Armory Show in NYC where hundreds of the world's leading artists, galleries, collectors, critics, and curators gather to marvel at the amazing art from across the globe. Here are some inspiring photos from our trip
Hope you all had an amazing weekend! Besides today's torrential downpour, we've been having gorgeous spring weather in NYC. Wishing you all a warm week with lots of love, art, and sunshine! xo Nia

School Post #4: Color on the Streets of NYC

Our next assignment was to scour the NYC streets for a common color. Below are some photos I snapped over the weekend of some friends;
the military influence was everywhere, with New Yorkers adopting army green parkas, jackets, and tanks in effortlessly cool ensembles.
Clay, Filmmaker & Artist; 28th Street & 8th Avenue
Clay is wearing an authentic uniform from the Canadian Armed Forces that he bought from an army surplus store in his hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Jaclyn, FIT student & Blogger at Stepping in Stilettos; 27th Street & 7th Avenue
Jaclyn layered her military green Forever 21 tank under a leather moto jacket.
Vanessa; FIT student & Blogger at Of The Moment...; 28th Street & 10th Avenue
Vanessa paired her PINK by Victoria's Secret army green parka with cropped jeans and nude heels.
Below are some additional New York streetstyle photos I've compiled from StyleCaster and Harper's Bazaar to bring you more inspiration:
Above: Textile Elizabeth and James Gregory Pullover Racoon-Trimmed Parka, Acne Admire boots,
Shopbop Skinny Cargo Pants, and Lisa Marie Fernandez swimsuit.
H&M army green jacket & tights ● Club Monaco silk pocket t-shirt & skirt ● Zara belt ● Aldo heels ● MAC 'So Chaud' lipstick
Here's my version of this color trend, a staple in my spring wardrobe (blogged here, here, and here), military green is here to stay! Thoughts?
