LEOPARD, STRIPES, & FOLIAGE

I love mixing colors and patterns and lately I've been pairing nautical stripes with tropical florals; although we have been lucky to have a pretty mild winter up until now, I can't wait for spring! HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Happy holidays lovelies! I can't believe 2009 is almost over- thank you for an amazing year! I love your comments, e-mails, and feedback - you have all been such a great inspiration to me!

I wore this outfit yesterday while running some last minute shopping errands and putting the final decorations on our tree. Here are a few of my favorite ornaments that I love seeing every Christmas:

One of my all time faves is this adorable little robot and although I'm a dog person, I find this fat cat ornament hilarious!

We have a rather large collection of bird ornaments and I love this little guy! We used to have a beautiful peacock that came with a nest but sadly I couldn't find it this year! We have hundreds of decorations and tree ornaments so unfortunately they sometimes go missing :(

I love this glass seahorse, it looks beautiful in the light! And lastly, my least favorite ornament, the cat in the...cone? I don't even know what this thing is...a cat head coming out of a christmas tree stuffed in a white felt cone adorned with gold tinsel? We got this one at a craft sale when I was little and I've always found it rather disturbing! I try to get rid of it but every year it ends up back on our tree!

SHOPPING WEEKEND

Tried to finish up some last minute Christmas shopping today and only ended up buying more things for myself! Oopsie...

Decided to give these peeptoe buckle ankle boots one last run before the temp gets too cold and then hopefully I can replace them with ~these~ fierce little things! Santa, baby?!

My mom bought me this beautiful coat for my birthday--pictures really don't do it justice! It has a gorgeous silhouette and the high collar is perfect for the cold weather. It's -31°C here right now but I'm keeping warm inside, enjoying the deliciousness of my Starbucks and studying for my exam (bleh). PERFECT NOVEMBER

I can't believe it's almost December; we have had the most beautiful November in Manitoba history! My shoe collection and I have greatly appreciated the serious lack of snow...

Clay bought me this beautiful dress for my birthday, isn't it perfection?! 100% silk...the amazing bold colors...LOVELOVELOVE. It's more amazing than Asos made it look online; I'm so excited about this piece! I also scored this hugeamazingawesome hat for $4 at the Le Château outlet!

Love and want/need! I assume we will get a real winter any day now (-50˚C, 10 feet of snow, etc.) so one of these beauties would be perfect.

Also loving right now that my friend Dallas got his music and poetry blogs up! Although the pages are still under construction, you have to check out some of his stuff on his site Dallas Shea Productions and some of his amazing poetry on his blog here. PUPPY LOVE

This has by far been the most beautiful November ever! The weather is perfect for layering and the absence of snow has been warmly welcomed by my collection of high heels. This was one of the outfits I wore on my birthday yesterday out with my boyfriend and puppy, Miley! Don't mind her squinting, she still hasn't perfected her camera-face yet...

STUDY BREAK

Taking a much needed study break right now. Working 20-30 hours a week and a maaaaaajor exam, huge lab assignment, presentation, and sketches due on Tuesday, I am completely overwhelmed! Not to mention my communications assignments (which I'm already over a week behind on) and graphic design project also due this week! Please bear with me as I suffer get through this week! I'll try and make some fun posts this weekend - I'm in the process of re-doing my closet and it's looking great (need about 40 more pant/skirt hangers though...). Annnnd, on the brightside I just got a slick new laptop ( = more posting, webcam pics, videos maybe?!). Anyways, back to studying (siiigggghhh), have a good week everyone! x Nia

Been busybusybusy with school (same old story) but have still been finding time to treat myself (shop). I picked up this cute floral headband from Forever21 when me and Clay went down to Minneapolis; I love headbands, hats, and headpieces, and am on the hunt for more beautiful headwear!

FALLING LEAVES

The great thing about living in Manitoba is having four distinct seasons...which calls for four distinct wardrobes! This time of the year is beautiful, the leaves are painted with emerald, gold, and crimson, and the air is cold and crisp. Snow is merely a few weeks away, but I'm going to enjoy autumn as much as I can before it's too cold and wet to wear these new fabulous boots!

A HIATUS & HAT

So apparently school starts and I go on an unofficial 3 week hiatus...sorry for the major lack of updates! Between a full course load, part-time job, and a design competition, I've sadly put my blog on the backburner. After making it out of the first few (stressful) weeks of school alive, I treated myself to this beautiful cocktail hat, isn't it fabulous!?
I will try to post more when my crazy/hectic/intense schedule allows me to do so. In the meantime, thank you for being the most fabulous/beautiful/inspirational/patient readers on the planet!

ROAD TRIP

Clay and I made the 8 hour road trip down to Minneapolis this weekend to see our fave band, Kings of Leon. We went to their show last year at a tiny theater venue so it was really exciting to see them in an arena this time (front row!!) and follow the boys as they evolved over the year by winning the hearts of all the Canadians and Americans who have been in the dark about their music for so long! Did a little shopping and hung out downtown all day!
Wore this outfit to the show tonight; the concert was AMAZING BEYOND WORDS and I'm now more in love with KOL than everrrrr!! White Lies opened and you should deff check them out if you haven't yet! All in all had a fabbbbbb weekend shopping, hanging out with my handsome boyfriend, and seeing my fave band of all time! Does it get any better than that?!
